Fallback Friday Classic Pic Of The Week
Posted on 3:09 PM by Unknown
After what seems like a year long absence, Fallback Friday is back and better than ever with this absolutely memorable mullet from Jaromir Jagr.
For any of you who have no idea when Jagr started to play, it was 22 years ago. 22 years. That makes Marty's whole "I was there for the real Rangers/Devils series" situation was less interesting. Anyways, Jagr was still playing in this playoffs this season and he even registered 8 points in 11 playoff games. But Jagr's career never captured as much hardware as it did in his first two years. Teaming up with one of the greatest centers of all-time, Mario Lemieux, Jagr won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Penguins in his first two years in the NHL. He also produced one of the goofiest and most classic post-Stanley Cup quotes of all-time. Czech-English barrier at its finest folks.
Unfortunately Jagr could never reach that plateau ever again in his career. Instead he turned into a stat machine, breaking the 100 point mark four times in his career, including a 62-goal, 87-assist(149 points) season in '95-'96. He played for the Capitals, Rangers and now the Flyers along with the Penguins, but he is remembered as a Penguin and some for some reason that ridiculous mullet fits so perfectly with those iconic Penguins jerseys.
Alot of people like to think Barry Melrose had the best mullet in the NHL, but Jagr's mullet-to-bucket ratio was the most ridiculous thing in the show. The point of having a mullet is in the style of being so absolutely absurd that people actually enjoy it. Add the dusty JOFA buckets and you're talking about some of the most mind-blowing style you'll ever see. There really isn't anything more iconic than Jagr skating down the ice on his hideous black skates, mullet flowing for days out of his JOFA helmet, and passing over to goofy(but filthy) Mario Lemieux who would just rip top cheddar. Phew, that was a boatload of hockey jargon, but if you don't get it, just watch this. It may just be one of the greatest goals in Stanley Cup Finals history.
"There's only four people in the arena he didn't deke, and three of them are ushers." Thank you Harry Neale you crazy Canadian.
