Trent Richardson's "Heisman Defining" Run
Trent Richardson, in my eyes, is a far superior back than Mark Ingram. I think he's quicker in terms of hitting his jukes fluidly, and he also absolutely assaults defenders; he runs like he wants to murder anyone trying to tackle him. Against Ole Miss earlier in this season, he broke off a monster run by breaking three tackles and then flying down the field. But, what made this a potentially "Heisman defining moment" was the move he puts on the Ole Miss CB. He steps back as if he's going to switch directions, but instead he literally pops off his back foot and continues on into the end zone. As you can expect the cornerback's ankles are dismissed from his body.
Mo Claiborne Sets The Tone For The Rest Of The Season
Think the Tigers return game was finished once Patrick Peterson went pro? Not so fast. Return man Morris Claiborne has filled in for the legend pretty nicely. Here he puts the nail in the coffin against West Virginia, by making a slew of tacklers miss. I don't wanna knock Mo, but some of these tackling attempts were pathetic. Still, dude made moves.
The Honey Badger Goes Long, Twice
Tyrann Mathieu has clearly established himself as the leader of the LSU defense. He is the next generation of Ed Reed; we're talking about a straight ball hawker. The guy can also take a punt or two back these days. Here he pretty much says "Hello, and goodbye" to not only the Arkansas' special teams, but also the team themselves. This TD was the point in the game where you went, "Well that upset was fun while it lasted." Mathieu makes his first move, sending the defender on a slip 'n slide adventure, then he's gone. In the second video, Mathieu changes the momentum in another "Upset false alarm" by taking the entire Georgia Bulldogs out to dinner filled with shredded ankles and devastating jukes. This can flat-out move, and it also seems like he has incredible vision. The next Devin Hester? Ehhh, that's a bold statement, but nevertheless I like what I see.
Milliner Shuts The Iron Door
Right when the Auburn Tigers thought they were going to get back into this year's Iron Bowl. Right when they thought they might be able to put a road block in their arch rivals' road to the BCS Title game. The Alabama defense did what it does best, make it plays. Now that Alabama is actually in the National Championship game, this play might have been the most important play of the season. In last year's Iron Bowl, Alabama blew a 24-3 lead, and it slowly seemed like the same was going to happen this year. Not so fast thanks to Dee Milliner's best impression of former 'Bama star CB Javier Arenas.
Marquis Maze Sends Arkansas On Their Merry Way
While watching all these top plays, I've realized that both of these teams have fantastic special teams units and that's probably why they are the #1 and #2 teams in the land. Maze on this play seemingly runs 150 yards in twenty different directions, embarrassing opponents on his way to an emphatic TD. The last twenty yards it looks as if every Arkansas defender takes a seat thank to a Marquis Maze special.
