I'm all for cellying, and I'm all for cellying a little bit too hard. That's what happened in last nights Lightning, Rangers game. After Artem Anisimov scored a goal, he turned around and pretending to snipe goal Mathieu Garon. Vinny Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos took up fisticuffs with Anisimov and Steve Downie came flying off of the bench to join in on the fun.
I liked Anisimov's celly, I thought it was clever and it was all in good fun. But, I equally appreciated the Lightning's response. There is no way in hell you're going to let any taunt your goalie like that. Both sides were wrong, and both siders were right. The NHL is probably going to hand out a bunch of unwarranted suspensions, but I think this is just old-fashion hockey; if you celly too hard,we're going to let you know how we feel about it. Everyone needs to relax and realize celebrating as well as defending your integrity(through fighting of course) is a integral part of the NHL, and should not be so overly punished like it has been lately.
