If your team is playing on TNT, you're going to have a rough night of viewership. |
NBA on TNT Thursday nights is truly rough to watch if your team is on it. They have exclusive coverage, unlike ESPN, so you cannot save yourself from these clowns. Their pre-game, halftime and post-game shows, which are absolutely unwatchable if you're seriously into the game, consist of Charles Barkley, Shaq, Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson and sometimes Chris Webber. Barkley is a joke. Shaq and Kenny Smith get caught up in Barkley's nonsense and Ernie Johnson's voice is unbearable. Chris Webber is probably the only sane man on the half-time show, but Barkley barely let the man have his word. Sometimes they can go an entire half-time without once talking about the game because Barkley's head is too big and Shaq is always trying to one-up Charles. Ernie Johnson's futile attempts to settle the group down is laughable.
Then once the game starts, you've got an ugly crew including Marv Albert, Reggie Miller, Mike Fratello and Steve Kerr. While Kerr and Fratello actually know their stuff, Albert and Reggie are just too egotistical for the other two to put their two cents in.. In Marv Albert's case it's all about the calls he makes, not the actual game. I will admit I enjoy some of his calls, it's all about him. Reggie Miller is way too opinionated(you could say the same about ESPN's Van Gundy) for me. Maybe, I'm just too big of a Knicks fan, but Miller has predetermined his thoughts about all players involved in a game and rarely changes his attitude.
Now if you're casually watching a game on TNT, then it's fine. The halftime show is basically a bad SNL skit and it's funny to hear some of the calls Albert makes. But the minute your team is playing you might as well turn on your local radio broadcast and watch something else during halftime.
Bring back NBA on NBC please.
I love you Shaq, but please, please, please stop this debauchery.
